Welcome to our Dojo
to control aggression without inflicting injury is the way of peace
You've tried the arts of aggression and power and now you would like to try something less aggressive. But is it still truly affective? Try and see. Aikido is an art you can do well into your senior years. So if you are looking for something that will give you massive calluses on your hands and feet. Where leaping through the air to finish off your would-be attacker with a flashy flying back dragon kick is your desire, then this isn't what you are looking for. If you are looking to find harmony with those around you and the ability to look down on your attacker and say,"you dropped something.". Then this is the art for you.Ok, so you want to do it like Steven Segal. "Patience grasshopper!"
Where to Begin
advice for beginners
- This is a young art. But you don't need to be young to learn it. Steeped in history and great tradition, you'll smile a lot.
- Work hard and reap the benefits. It takes years of practice to work your way from no belt to black belt. You are not going to get it right away. It takes heart, dedication and mostly patience to stick with it.
- I don't have a uniform. We have full Dogis for sale at a little over cost. But at the start, just wear something comfortable. Sweat pants and a t-shirt will suffice. We aren't that picky.
