Mission Statement

The mission of the Base Borden Yoshinkan Aikido Club is to promote both physical fitness and a healthier life style through the training in Aikido. As part of the Canadian Forces Personal Support Programme our primary focus is the Military Community however we welcome into our club all who wish to participate in "The way of harmony"

Introduction

Aikido is a modern martial art derived from Samurai fighting techniques of ancient Japan. Developed during the 1920’s, the technical foundations of Aikido can be traced back to Aiki-jujutsu that evolved in early Japan. Aiki-jujutsu techniques were practiced by Prince Tejin, son of the Emperor Seiwa (850-880 AD), and passed on to succeeding generations of the Minamoto family.
